ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
 
Undergraduate studies: Attended California State University at Northridge from July, 1966 to June, 1970. Graduated with honors in June, 1970, achieving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, concentrating in accounting.
 
Graduate studies: Attended Claremont Graduate School in 1971. Attended classes in economics and studied management under Dr. Peter Drucker as part of a program toward a Master’s Degree in Business-Economics.

Currently enrolled in the Executive MBA program at the Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management at Claremont Graduate University.
 
INSTRUCTIONAL EXPERIENCE
 
UCLA Visiting lecturer at the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA during Fall 1974, Winter and Spring 1975, Spring 1985, Spring 1986, Winter 1992, Winter 1993, Winter and Spring 1996, Spring and Fall 1997, Winter and Fall 1998, Winter 1999, Winter 2000, and Summer 2005. Class assignments have included graduate and undergraduate courses in principles, intermediate, and advanced accounting, auditing, and management.
 
Loyola Marymount University Lecturer of accounting for Spring and Fall 1989.
 
CSU Los Angeles Visiting lecturer of accounting from September 1975, to June 1977. Class assignments included undergraduate classes in principles, intermediate, and advanced accounting, auditing, and taxation. Responsibilities also included involvement in the committee for continuing professional education, student counseling, and faculty adviser to Beta Alpha Psi.
 
CSU Northridge Lecturer of accounting from Summer 1969 through Spring 1972, Fall 1983 through Spring 1985, Fall 1987, Fall 1989, Fall 1996 and Spring 1997. Class assignments included graduate and undergraduate courses in principles, intermediate, and advanced accounting, advanced theory, auditing, cost accounting, management, and managerial accounting.
 
University of Judaism Lecturer of accounting in managerial accounting for Spring 2005 semester.
 
Other instructional experience Served as guest lecturer for UCLA extension and CSUN Foundation. Class assignments included graduate and undergraduate courses in principles, intermediate, and advanced accounting, auditing, taxation, cost and managerial accounting, management, and CPA review. Responsibilities also included counseling, steering committee participation, text selection, preparing course outlines for various programs, and developing a new course in construction and real estate accounting.
 
Authorship Authored a comprehensive textbook used for preparation for the CPA exam and various continuing professional education courses. Also authored “Focus Notes”, a four volume set of study aids used by CPA candidates and published by John Wiley & Sons.

Author of two 8-hour continuing professional education (CPE) courses offered individually and through the California Society of CPAs Education Foundation designed to meet the current fraud CPE requirement One is entitled “Today’s A & A Practice, With an Emphasis on Fraud”, the emphasis of which is the performance of an audit or review in compliance with the most recent standards, increasing efficiency and profitability, and improving the likelihood of detecting fraud. The other is “Fraud From an Internal Accountant’s Perspective”, the emphasis of which is the role of the internal accountant in developing and administering internal controls, analyzing the integrity of information, and participating in the prevention and detection of fraud within an organization. Both of these courses are currently being taught extensively.

Author of a CPE entitled “Quality Control: A Practical Guide for the Small to Medium Firm”, the emphasis of which is the management of an accounting practice and dealing with issues such as staffing, the performance of services, billings, succession, and relationships with clients.

Author of article entitled “Fraud: An Internal Accountant’s Perspective” for The Edge, national magazine of the American Society of Women Accountants (Vol 57, Issue 4, September 2006) and article entitled “Plant, Property and Equipment”, a review of a proposed technical accounting pronouncement in California CPA, magazine of CalCPA, the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (March/April 2002).
 
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
 
Seminars and lectures Conduct seminars for chapters of CalCPA, the American Society of Women Accountants, the Society of California Accountants, the Association of Government Accountants, the National Association of Black Accountants, the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting (previously AAHCPA), and various other organizations on technical and nontechnical topics.
 
Private industry Worked as assistant controller at Metropolitan Warehouse Company (1968 to 1970). Responsibilities included the training and supervision of the accounting department and office staff, development and execution of accounting and reporting systems, computer operations, inventory accounting, and internal controls.

Financial Vice President and Vice President of Administration for Scottfield Building Corporation, a subsidiary of Watt Industries in West Los Angeles (1972 to 1974). The company was involved in the development of single-family and multi-family housing projects. Responsibilities included the training and supervision of accounting and office staff, and arranging and administering all transactions for the construction and permanent financing of developments.
 
Public accounting Worked as staff accountant at various CPA firms from 1965 to 1970 during high school and while attending CSUN.

Worked as senior accountant for Kenneth Leventhal and Company, a national firm of CPA’s (1971 to 1972). Responsibilities included the performance of audits with full client responsibility, taking a client public, development of accounting and reporting systems for clients, negotiation of the acquisition and financing of a major division of a publicly held corporation on behalf of a client, and interviewing personnel for employment by clients in positions ranging from staff to vice president.

Partner at NSBN (previously Nanas, Stern, Biers, Neinstein & Co) from July 2001 through December 2002. Responsible for training and education of all professional staff, recruiting, audit practice director, technical quality control, marketing and business development, and strategic planning for the firm.
 
Business Ownership Founder of The Mark Dauberman CPA Review course, an independent program, which grew to become the largest CPA review course in Southern California. The program prepared over 2,500 candidates per year in 12 Southern California locations.

Merged into Stanley H. Kaplan Educational Centers, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Washington Post, to become National Director of CPA Programs. Expanded program to become largest CPA review course in the states of California, New York, and Texas.

Founder of Mark’s CPA Review Course, successor to The Mark Dauberman CPA Review Course, offering courses throughout the state of California. Mark’s CPA Review also offered courses in South Korea, India, and the Middle East, as well as an on-line CPA Review Course and a video taped course for use as a self-study course.
 
Current Business Affiliation Provide staff training to CPA firms and continuing education to members of the profession. Technical topics focus on auditing and accounting with an emphasis on audit efficiency and fraud risk analysis, and strategic planning for establishing or managing an accounting practice. Provide training for corporations on fraud, the establishment of internal controls, accounting principles and applications, and various other topics.

Professional public speaker, providing keynote addresses on motivational and developmental topics including fraud, time management, goal setting, stress management, ethics, and dealing with crises.
 
PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS AND OTHER AFFILIATIONS
 
California Society of CPA's Vice Chair for 2000 to 2002 term. Chair of task force formed to increase diversity in the profession and in the Society. Currently involved as chair of the statewide Accounting Education Committee, member of the state Accounting Principles and Auditing Standards Committee, and member of state Council. Past president of the Los Angeles chapter.
 
Other organizations Served as Student Activities Director of the Los Angeles chapter of ASWA and Education Director of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Association of Government Accountants. Member of NSA, IMA, SCA, ACFE, and FEI.
 
Advisement Member of Advisory Council for Loyola Marymount University, CSU Los Angeles, and Chaffey College. Also serving on the Board of Directors of the Accounting Careers Awareness Program (ACAP).
